Impressed

I'm impressed.

Every day when I meet up with Ting, she's got on a different pair of Adidas shoe on. Ting helps to manage the bunch of very excitable kids I have to face very morning, while I try to get 'em to draw and animate.

To date, I've noticed like ten different pairs of Adidas, all with that fresh out of the shoe box clean look. It doesn't help that I am a fan of Adidas shoes too, so I'm trying to find out like how many more pairs she have. Keeping count :P
I'm trying hard keep my head on and not start thinking that I can actually amass myself a collection like hers. It's just shoes, it's just shoes, it's just... awwww, it's Adidas! I should go shopping with her *MuhaHahAhaHa*

It's a good thing that I only have three pairs of Adidas right now, so I'm not a fanatic yet. It'll be a long time before I'm going to see that number appreciate, at least not till I book myself a flight out of here, for some vacation to clear my tired mind, body and soul.

Moo moo moody

The long weekend beginning Good Friday gave me the mood bug. I was in no mood for anything at all, missed church on Easter Sunday too. Well, I'll be... I was also rather slacking on Monday, while I was with another bunch of kids for their sculpture class. Didn't help too that they were so absorbed in their own SMS world and the warm humid weather was just bad.

So this morning's heavy downpour was a great relieve. With the air-con in the class down to the lowest, my glasses fogged up everytime I stepped out. *grin*

A few hours earlier, I finally got around to finding out what Harold & Kumar go to White Castle was all about, loaned the DVD on impulse, glad I did. It helped to bring back some fond memories of the times when I was working around the bay area & SF. (The show's not set in SF or the bay area though, but it's typical)

Overhaul

Get Firefox!
Since the Mac crashed I've been brooding over a PC for all my online therapy. And I so missed using the Safari, that was until I deceided to try out Firefox. Firefox rawks! The tabbed browsing is exactly like the Safari's. I'm also very happy with the select & right click to search in dictionary option.

Anyway, yesterday I had to lug the comatose Mac down to Funan for a diagnostic. She'll be needing a transplant of her hard drive, hopefully that's all she'll need changed.

Waiting for that call to bring her home.

One Constant

Changes changes everywhere.
The only constant in life is change, so it is.
Then there's the pace in which we allow change to impact us.

Slurppie

Tongue excercise is quite a workout when a whole bunch of people starts doing it together. Kinky with a dash of salt or lots of caffine.

Flick your tongue for that sexy look and join in the fetish fray, here and here too but the real action is here.

Strike #2

It's strike 2 for my Titanium Beau. She did a major crash on me again and its barely 1 month from the last crash and revival... now I have to be reliant on a PeeCee for all my online therapy. Oh how my head aches!

Monomaniacal

Been rather preoccupied the pass few days since 'Swing Girls'. I've been scouring the wwweb for all things Big Band, Swing and Jazz. And managed to dig up all there is to know about Glenn Miller, his Orchestra and brief history. 'In the Mood' is one of his more popular Swing Jazz piece, you'll know it once you hear it.

Jazz up

Swing Girls was a fun movie to watch. Yup! Caught the movie tonight as planned, it's a typical inspirational zero-to-hero tale about a group of girls who found their rhythm - they say it was based on a true story, plausible. Lots of feel-good emotions, humor and more than a little satisfying irreverence - there's this part in the movie where the girls were chased by a wild boar, simply hilarious. It was done in a mock, a-la-Matrix bullet time action.

I am getting a renewed passion for some Big Band music, time to go hunt down 'em Big Band/Swing Band/Jazz CDs. The 'Swing Girls'team looks set to be releasing a 'LIVE' music CD later this month too.

Next change

Finally met up with the good people at the National Heritage Board this morning, it's also the first time I stepped into the MITA building at Hill Street since the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MITA), and the National Arts Council moved in there years ago, there are also like six galleries housed in here with quite an interesting collection of contemporary and fine art pieces.

Anyway, I am feeling rather optimistic about the meeting and if all goes down well, I might be having my hands full very soon. More updates as it happens, all this would hopefully go towards better credit standing for my new life as a student again, a few months from now.

Swing Girls

The last japanese comedy movie by director Shinobu Yaguchi which I really enjoyed was Waterboys (2001) and he just released another movie last year - Swing Girls. The great thing is that Cathay would be screening the movie this Thursday, woOHoOo!

I could make do with some high-spirited japanese teenage hysterial, as well as the typical emotional dedication and drive that's almost a signature for most japanese movies. What's more it's Big Band music!! I just love big band music, I'm gonna get me the music CD and DVD when I see 'em!

Backtrackin

Made a trip to Suntec City on Sunday, for a forum on Art Museums & Contemporary Culture.
The start of the forum was a little delayed as a few of the speakers were hindered. Apparently the IT show held there this year was a real draw and since it's also the last day of the show, everyone deduce that there would be bargains galore. Hence throughout the day, all roads leading towards and around Suntec were jammed with hundreds of jaywalking crowd, as well as crawling cars that couldn't get into the already full carparks, in or around the area.

Anyway, the forum was graced by Thomas Krens, Director of Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation which oversees six Solomon R. Guggenheim museums and eminent contemporary artist Cai Guo Qiang. I was in awe.

One of his more recent work from 2004, that left me with a lasting impression, would have to be the Inopportune: Stage Two (see pix)

Follow this link to his site for more details about him and all the projects that he've done since 1989.

House of the flying roach

A flying roach invade my personal space a little while ago while I was doing my crouching tiger in my little corner of the study, zoning out in front of the TV.

After a brief sparing session of letting things fly from my hands and some bamboo rod bashings, the brave flying invader was neutralised... would have hated to have to scrap the innards off the floors.

If the dogs were home, they would have made a quick job of this encounter.

How the hell did a flying roach navigate itself all the way into my study?!! It's like the furthest room away from any window and there are like so many other rooms it could have gone to explore. *Haiz*

Let's hope this would be the first and last of these night flyer encounters.

Star gazed

Ahhdoy, just wanna pop in a pixie of Channel U's relaunch held at Zouk yesterday, was roped in rather last minute to help cover the 'tradeshow'.

Beside that fact that I was almost rubbing shoulders with the stars, it was also great meeting up with all those behind-the-scenes old friends and seeing that radient look on their faces.

Sideways

Had not been watching the clock, look right -->
So it's been a while... how time sneaks by, all the time.
With only 4 weeks in a month, the days are going by pretty fast.

Just realised that the film Sideways been on screen for awhile and that it's actually been quite awhile too, since the Academy Awards, where it was accorded the award for best adapted screenplay. I haven't had the chance pop by the cinemas, I hope it's still screening on Monday.

This reminds me of a red I had tasted while dining in Paris at the Restaurant Chartier. Do set aside time to pop into this restaurant, the ambience and experience is quite erm unique, given it's rich history and culture.
frenchwine

The Alcazar on 62, rue Mazarine is also a nice place to dine (make reservations esp. if you're touring).
Inside, there's a very stylish bar and lounge upstairs while the main dining area on the lower level is very nicely decorated. The sophisticated cuisine with an emphasis on French food is excellent, given the price paid... do try some Champagne Veuve Clicquot, if I recall correctly, is a rather light and fruity blend. Not that this is the only place to get some, haha, but it's great with the ambience.

Also, if you're lucky you might find yourself seated near to some Hollywood celebrity. I saw one :) but I just can't recall the name or even which movie. *Muahahaha*

For lounge music lovers, you can find CDs from Alcazar selling in Singapore too.

Oscar exposure

I gave the Oscar show on TV a miss, I was too tired to sit through it that nite. Anyway, there was more than enough coverage about it everywhere and right down to every little detail.

And so it's through Spirit Fingers that I realised that there was more eye candy than just knowing what Clint Eastwood won.

What I am truly amazed at is, in what instance would this picture be commercially viable? I'm at a lost for words, but I'm amazed and amused by the photo's caption and details (No mention of Prada). I was hoping to find some hint that would have indicated that it was a cropped photo, but nope, this was how the photo was shot.

I guess the way this picture was shot and published on Getty Images, no less, would somehow justify the phenomenon of men looking into a woman's bosom while talking to them.
