Tabloid

Tabloid n 1: sensationalist journalism

This is taken off a local tabloid that got it originally from a similar cousin based in Australia. *LOL*

About the identity, of Mr Darshan Singh, 74, as the man slated to hang convicted Australian drug trafficker Van Tuong Nguyen, 25.

And this has led to Mr Singh's face being plastered in various Australian and British papers.

Info as yet unverified by the authorities involved -
He used to cane convicted criminals.
'The pay then was 50 cents per stroke.'

Well, most people would be more interested in knowing the main part of the news and how Australian reporters actually got to snooping all the way here in Singapore, just to find the Executioner.

So anyway, anyone out there interested in $10 worth of strokes? Local delivered only. *LOL*

DesignEdge at Suntec

DesignEdge was supposed to be a creative conference and exhibition, with an impressive line-up of speakers that included James Lavelle, Rostarr, Maharishi, UNKLE and The Designers Republic. And it cost US$20 (S$35) to get in per day, that is if one din already got the conf. pass at US$150 (S$250) for all 3 days, Thursday right thru to Saturday.

Anyhoo, it was a real disappointment.
Chief Alchemist, seemed to think so too.

The conference part was a real flop, with most of the presenters going up on stage ill-prepared, really sad. While the exhibition in most part only showcased design executions best suited only for toy figurines or skateboards, in general it reminded me of the kinda graduation show that fresh design grads would put up. And even then, they didn't have to put themselves down by going up on stage and reveal that they couldn't really express their creative ideas and concept properly. I'm not saying that all those who presented during the conf. were terrible, maybe it just the few ill-prepared presenters that caught my attention and I'm sure I was not the only one in the audience that noticed it.

DesignEdge was to be the platform that launched the "design festival" all over Singapore. It is good to know that efforts are in place to promote Singapore as a place for creative design ideas and processes, but Singapore is not ready for a design festival. I don't want to go into details, check out the participants involved in this supposed design festival.

It was a good thing I did not have to pay to get into DesignEdge.

Here's some pictures I took, while I spent a day there, hoping...

At 11.30am on Saturday,

It might had been better, if DesginEdge was more a display of talent/work and less talk.

Ayeeeeeee!!

It's been really early mornings for me these past few days since Monday, just one more day to go before I get to sleep a little more.
It's been up and at 'em at 5am every morning for me... way too early, even before the sun is up and I have to rush off to this school over at Geylang.
Then it's standing all day, challenging 9 year olds to keep their hyper-active minds to be attentive and attempting to keeping their overactive vocals to a minimal.

The swelling from my sprain have barely even subsided...

I get home without the slightest glimpse of the blazing sun.

One more day.

The Ring of Gyges

Could any man resist the temptation of evil if he knew his actions could not be witnessed?
