Aiiiyaaaaaa!!!

Aiya... veri baaaaad mood lately, ahhHh. Can't seem to think straight or for that matter think at all... maybe it's the humidity plus the heat. This damn weather is like blazing hot all morning and by late noon, it freakin pours! Loud rolling thunder and all, after that the humidity juz shoots up... hate that icky sticky feeling, like cold sweat. While the sun blazes down on us here and steam up all that water around us, elsewhere in Japan or California, they're either having the coldest freak snow-in or the heaviest downpour. *Haiz*

Still getting over my Mac tantrum, at the same time very tempted to go get a new phone cause M1 been sending me these letters for phone upgrade, it's as if they know... I should resist the urge to get one, I dun get calls anyway.

Some random thoughts, been thinking about art preservation and anthropology, sponsorship request, great windfall, that other person...
I really need to get that appointment with NHB going.

Tied up

Been feeling tired from having to wake up Oh sooo early for those kids at Parsir Ris its doubly exhausting when they get all mischievous and noisy, then there's the dread from having to reinstall all the s/w I need back into the Mac every nite for the past few nites, hence the entry gaps this past week.

A matter of faith

My titanium beauty finally came home yesterday, the same could not be said for my Sony T610 (her brains got fried).

It would be a while before I could commit to doing much with her again. I'm still grouchy over the lost of all my emails, archive and addresses. Trust takes a long while to rebuild once it's lost. Wary, wary.

When it rains it pours

5.30pm
The public pool was virtually deserted, stepped out of the pool.
It begun to rain.
Without so much as a flash of lighting or the sound of rolling thunder, the sky opened up and poured.

5.45pm
Stepped out of the changing room.
Still pouring, no signs of letting up.
The pool got crowded.
Then there was rumbling, my stomach.

6.15pm
Scoot over to the pool's canteen.
Gobbled down a cold and greasy 'spring roll', washed it down with Star Fruit juice. *bleach*

6.30pm
The rain cloud seem to have moved on.
Time to crawl home.

Calling your cheat

Let the debate begins, the definition of cheating is not as clear cut as it seems and everyone seem to have a different view on it. Long-term relationships, being complex and complicated as it maybe, is still held precariously by building intangible emotional bonds. There may be many different reasons for perceived cheating that it would be hard to state exactly what cheating is. But I still stand firm that even if sex was not involved, the loss of shared affections that helps to develop emotional bonds between two person would lead to a seperation.

Chuck Klosterman may state that - Cheating begins the moment someone decides that it's unreasonable to be sexually committed to one person, and once that happens, only the fear of being caught - or the unavailability of an attractive accomplice - is what prevents infidelity from actually happening.

But for me, whatever one's definition of cheating might be, even if an illicit relationship was never consummated physically, misplaced intimacy would still result in the end of one's relationship with an existing partner. It is the loss of such shared affections and development of emotional bonds that would ultimately develop into a breakup.

It's all gone

OK, it just dawned on me that a good part of my life have just vanished when my Mac and mobile phone decided to crash together. All those birthday reminders, appointments, phone numbers... my sony ericsson was sync to my Mac for all update and backups. Right now, I'm feeling the calm before the storm...

The Mac in the meantime refuses to be reinstalled after I made a partition, the OS installer had been crashing in mid-progress *WT~@#&*^!!*. I'm just so totally baffled, so I've banished my sleek titanium lass from my desk at least until I can figure out what's wrong and deal with it later.

Found an old "screen dead" HP laptop sitting on the shelf, so it's now hooked up to a monitor, this had been one long day...

I hope depression dun hit me, when I finally realised how much have just been erased from my life. It's like memories were just wiped clean and I'm now in a state of amnesia.

Blacked out

It's terrible! Horrible! Dire!!
My mac crashed big time, just gotten around to having the the OS reinstalled. But not without having to do the unthinkable - had to zero the HD before I could reinstall, cause the system just hangs on all the other options I tried the past 3 days...
AaaaAAaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

Then within the same nite, my sony ericsson crashed too.
OMG! OMG! OMG!!!!!! Shite on me!!
It was all feverish HOT when I picked it up, but was all black and silent... the phone just burnt up... was hoping that maybe it's just the battery that's faulty, so was down at Wisma yesterday, spent a good 2 hours there. Long story short, the phone's main board is probably fried *HOW??!* and a replacement could well buy me a new phone.
OMG! OMG! OMG!!!!!! Shite on me!!
Can't afford a new phone now, so I'm still on mobile blackout.

More details later, now I've just gotten to have the mac reinstalled with nothing but a browser. There so much to get back in order, reinstalling softwares and getting over all my lost work, photos, mp3, etc...
Backup?? ... ... AAAAaaaaaaaAAaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! Shite on me!!

The hot and humid weather is not helping one bit to take things calmly either.

Gingerbread man update

An illustrated series, something that I've been waking real early the past few weeks to teach the kids at PasirRis, to draw and animate. Tomorrow will be another early day.

So many more places to go

This here is my map of travels, it briefly mark the places that I've either travelled to or lived in, over 16 countries and that's only like a measly 7%. Lots of great memories though, would be awhile before I make another trip.

High heel, sex, vibrator, japanese girl, groping...

Groping on Tokyo trains reaches record 2,201 cases. Apparently the problem is rather deep rooted, such that the police are still examining why groping cases are surging... while on the other end, The Groper's Brotherhood is actively organising practical mauling workshops; hiring girls for fondle practice on crowded commuter trains and offering criticism and tips, to better themselves in the fine art of groping.

Just to see how much search hits this will generate ^_^

Did you find gratification?

I'm sure not many would openly say it out loud, but people just seem so drawn towards the siren song of corporate achievement. I am sure part of the excitement is in reaching the goal, but is the corporate rat race the only way to gain gratification? While many relish in their never ending climb towards corporate achievement, I'm standing firm that it is not the only way towards personal satisfaction.

Perhaps the current younger generation of Japanese is not that far wrong, afterall they'd seen their hard-working parents lose everything during the economic recession of 1980s, many are now reluctant to join the traditional corporate grinding mill, taking menial part-time jobs instead. The government is concerned, but many people hail it as a return to a happier era. People aren’t as rich, but the emphasis is moving away from corporate achievement, towards personal satisfaction.

Valentine's day 乾柴烈火

Recent news had it that there have been quite a few bush fires bursting forth across the island, and is sending our fire fighters scurry(ing) into action. Well I guess passionate couples are probably getting a head start prior to Valentine's day.

乾柴烈火 - Dry Wood Fierce Fire

Given the excellent sunny weather around the whole tropical island for the past couple of months, it's bound to happen.
Concerned parents should provide their kids with bigger allowence so that they can get a hotel room, at least there's a sprinkler system in case fire broke out.

乾柴烈火 is also a movie, by Hong Kong Director Wilson Yip, starring Louis Koo and Miriam Yeung Chin-Wah

Calamity and Catastrophe

Update: The Kyoto Protocol enters into force on February 16.
Concentration of carbon dioxide now stands at 372 parts per million, levels above 500 ppm are though to pose a "dangerous" level of interference with the climate system. The Kyoto Protocol aims to reduce these greenhouse gas emissions 5.2 percent below 1990 levels (350ppm) by 2012.
______________________________________________________
Looks like lots more calamity and catastrophe are ahead. Even as some scientist continue to debate over global warming, the signs are apparent, bears in Estonia are waking early from hibernation, Australia suffers its worst drought in 100 years and multiple hurricanes hammer Florida... (ref. Jan 11 entry)

Many climate scientists say that floods, storms and droughts will become more frequent. Rising temperatures could also force up ocean levels, swamping coasts and low-lying Pacific islands.

On Friday, the brains at NASA indicated that 2005 could be warmest year recorded. The warmest year at the world's surface since records began in the 1860s was 1998, followed by 2002, 2003 and 2004, according to the U.N.'s World Meteorological Organization.

Even now a coalition of countries (141 at present count) is attempting to arrest the forecasted continued rise of global temperatures by bringing into force the Kyoto protocol - an agreement aimed at curbing emissions of gases from cars and industry, blamed for trapping the Earth's heat.

But premilinary statistics had already shown that this alone might not be enough to effect any changes to reverse the current state of global warming.

Yesterday, today and Valentine day

Went to a house warming party on Sixth Ave, Friday nite. Hosted by a bachelor and bachelorette (house mates), so it was mostly drinks and some food. Drinks were great, food were mostly cold quite quickly, highlight was when lady host went around spoon feeding ice cream with warm tangerine. Sometime into the nite, I think someone had too much Martini and was totally stoned, lying on the floor drooling away, he's still cuddled up below the table when I left at 3am.

Woke up early this morning, thinking that I had overslept, it was only 8.30am. After breakfast, was lazing around a bit, the next thing I know I woke up again - now it's 7.30pm *gasp* I slept thru lunch. Watched a couple of Japanese DVDs I loaned from the host yesterday so that's the programme for the nite "Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence" & "Versus". I'm still a little dazed from too much sleep so I won't comment on the movies, but the anime storyline by Masamune Shirow is really good.

In a minute, it'll be Sunday and then it's Feb 14.
"Valentine's day!" My iCal had popped up a reminder earlier this morning when I turned on my mac, something that I had put into the calendar a few years back when it still meant something to someone. But I have always thought that it is too over-rated and commercialised but that's totally different depending on who's in your life at that point.
Right now, I am just perturbed thinking about it and being recently independent, so I'm turning off the pop up reminder for this particular day, for now.

What a Cock

The past two days of LNY celebrations are finally over and everything should be getting back to normality, looking back at my entries over the past couple of days, I didn't know what had gotten into me, I was obsessed with domestic trivialities *gasp*. My apologies to myself, gotta go smack myself now.

Here's a legend to shed some light on the chinese zodiac -
According to Chinese legend, the twelve animals quarreled one day as to who was to head the cycle of years. The gods were asked to decide and they held a contest: whoever was to reach the opposite bank of the river would be first, and the rest of the animals would receive their years according to their finish.
All the twelve animals gathered at the river bank and jumped in. Unknown to the ox, the rat had jumped upon his back. As the ox was about to jump ashore, the rat jumped off the ox's back, and won the race. The pig, who was very lazy, ended up last. That is why the rat is the first year of the animal cycle, the ox second, and the pig last.
The order of the twelve - Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Boar.
The rotating cycle of twelve animal signs was a folk method for naming the years in traditional China and are repeated every twelve years.

Glowing

This is my second attempt to post this entry, the first turned to nothingness when the browser crashed.

Just gotten home, I spent my whole day at my parent's place today, mainly for lunch and dinner. NOthing out there is opened, almost everywhere is closed and deserted. Come to think of it, Mac's opened as should most of the other fast food and coffee joints, but I would not have any burger for any meal, be it Prosperity Burger or not *yucks* at least not this week.

Had considered staying over at my parent's tonight, but I'd missed my bed too much plus I need my moisturisers cause I think my skin's beginning to flake. I might be a little burned from my tan yesterday, it's glowing and I seriously contemplated about wearing anything that's red or bright orange this morning. Haha, people might that I had too much to drink already.

I'm still considering going to the pool for a swim tomorrow - no crowd, not sure if it's opened for morning swim. But look at the time now, I might not wake in time.

There are a few people I know, that's probably not as joyous as the rest of us celebrating the Lunar New Year. My aunt's (dad's younger sis) father-in-law passed away a few days ago, today's the cremation. This blogger is not really feeling happy either, and a friend staying alone in California is probably missing home too (something abt green card stay).

Biotherm - Line Peel

Yesterday was a great day. After successfully scrubbing down the shower and my favourite white ceramic sink and sorting out the mess in my study, I set off to do some shopping. It's good that it was still a work day for most people yesterday, so there was not much of a crowd. Saw my own reflection in one of those nice mirror walls and realised that my hair looked like, erm... a little too long and lifelessly flat. So I called up my stylist's since the Shunji Matsuo salon was just around the area, but it was one day before the Lunar New Year, I tried my luck anyway - I got my hair cut *yeh* a little too short to my liking... I won't fuss over it, the salon was fully packed and my stylist was kind enough to fit me in.

Then I realised that I had forgotten to switch the power back on for my freezer when I switched it off this morning to remove the halogen bulb, which had blown the other day. Anyway it turned out well, nothing turned bad but the fridge is still in darkness. I had not managed to find a replacement bulb yet *flustered*

Took my bike for a spin this morning, since I finally got it fixed Sunday, great weather today sunny and clear bright skies. So I went for a swim too, hoping to get a tan :) now my skin feels all dry and stretched. Biotherm's Line Peel came to mind, saw it while shopping yesterday, wonder if it's any good *haha* I think what i really need is moisturiser, lots.

I am now seriously dead beat, from all that exercise. Reunion dinner's a few hours away, hope I dun fall asleep at the table *yAAawn YaaAWN*

To everyone celebration the LNY, have a happy and pros-per-ous year ahead, and a good time talking cock.

Dust off

Lunar New Year's eve is in two days time, so today's the last day of the weekend to do spring-cleaning... and I'm just finished for today. I think my back's gonna break, I could only managed the windows, kitchen, living room, 3 rooms, laundry *gasp* there's still the bathroom and the mess in my study to sort out, that'll be tomorrow.
Now I'm just dead beat from all that mopping...

My bicycle finally got fixed today *yeah!*

Something I had taken note of recently -
The government's concern (initiative) to get more people giving births, is getting the local national paper's journalist all excited and digging up trivial for front page news, this is so obviously a conspiracy.

For the past few weeks, I've noticed a few prominent writeups about how matching agencies are doing very well for Singaporean men looking for brides from Vietnam, China, Kalimantan and other asian countries. And how these men that had found (purchased) wife through these agencies, are so gleefully elated with their good buy.
For one such couple, the man is just happy he's going to be a father soon, so that's a plus for the government's birth rate increase policy. But he's not sure if his young wife will leave him in the future.

Ok, here's my conspiracy theory. It is a fact that the local girls are mostly highly educated, confident and have higher expectations, the government's not complaining, it is afterall good genetics when smart people gets married and give birth to future smarter generation. That's why during the early years, the government had to enforce the policy to keep families to 2 child or less per family.

Now that the population numbers is declining at a dire rate (like so many other countries), the regulated national paper feels that it is a duty to inform all these local male herd of average genetics that there's such affordable matching agencies around to help them out. Nevermind if it resulted in any bad genetics, the local education system have been highly recognised and appraised to assumilate them into society for the greater good of the future economy.

Wurst, Portland

Portland, Oregon. That's one city's name I could never recall, whenever I needed to tell friends' of friends, that there's where they gone when they got posted to the HP office there.

Anyway, there's one jason sturgill's online gallery - wurst, it's based out of Portland and right now vintage vandals is selling like hot cakes.

I like this illustrated piece, and the overall bend the rules concept of painting over someone's work seem Oh so liberating.

Kit Kats

Japan snaps up 'lucky' Kit Kats.
I've been on the lookout for the green tea flavour Kit Kats, but apparently only a small limited batch was available when it was imported locally, and that's like already been some five to six months back. Anyone out there that have some green tea flavour kitto katsu to send my way? ^_^

Moments

Been rather concerned of late with my health & diet, since finding out that the occasional pain in my toe could be one big indication that I have Gout. So so so... so as not to elevate the further buildup of uric acid in my system, I have to avoid enjoying some very nice rich foods - red meat, shellfish, fish roe, scallops, peas, lentils, beans, cream sauces and red wine. Well at least I prefer white wine to red but I'll sure miss red meat, shellfish and scallops. Let's hope the bird-flu don't spread anywhere near, else there'd be no white meat too.
Cause sushi don't taste good when I eat alone. (It's cold)

I've always known that worrying would shorten a person's life, and I'd just found validation.

wor'ri·er n.
Word History: Worrying may shorten one's life, but not as quickly as it once did. The ancestor of our word, Old English wyrgan, meant “to strangle.” Its Middle English descendant, worien, kept this sense and developed the new sense “to grasp by the throat with the teeth and lacerate” or “to kill or injure by biting and shaking.” This is the way wolves or dogs might attack sheep, for example. In the 16th century worry began to be used in the sense “to harass, as by rough treatment or attack,” or “to assault verbally,” and in the 17th century the word took on the sense “to bother, distress, or persecute.” It was a small step from this sense to the main modern senses “to cause to feel anxious or distressed” and “to feel troubled or uneasy,” first recorded in the 19th century.

I'm thanking my stars that I don't worry about my worries as well.

There's one for every situation

Almost everybody seem to be miffed.
While over at the iTunes Music Store, for those with yearnings try finding a match here. There are iTunes Essentials for both Valentine's Day and also Valentine's Day Alone.
And if those are selections not appealing enough, there's Gospel Choirs or Margarita Mix
